The inspiration for my new fabrics comes from my afternoon walks around my neighbourhood in Byron Bay. There’s a secret little path that leads to Tallows beach and the Tea Tree lake entrance about 10 minutes from where I live, since Christmas I have been collecting and photographing snippets that I have used in my designs.
Once I decide on a design, I then start to cut out the pattern in paper cut outs, this entire new range is designed in paper cut outs! I love the quirky uneven line you achieve with a craft knife, yet it can be so accurate at the same time.
Wattle blooms at the end of my street, it’s absolutely glorious in full bloom, what better way to start a kids fabric range than a bright sunshine yellow and an iconic Australian flower that reminds me of my childhood growing up in the mountains.
